ClickBank-being an Affiliate
Most common question asked when starting up is…
What should I sell?
The easiest strategy would be to sell products that others have already made and the owners will pay you for selling it on for them. That is, become an Affiliate.
The first place to start off is ClickBank.com which is a site devoted to e-products which are easily downloaded and without any postal problems.Click on the ‘Marketplace’ link at the top of the page and have a search around the various categories…
There are thousands of products for you to mooch around with. In fact, there is so much choice you might not know what to go with first. You can sell anything, but I guess the best product to start with would be something that you know something about, that you feel comfortable with and don’t mind writing about.
You may find a number of products that fit the bill, but you must choose only one. Multi-tasking is not the order of the day here. The priority is to concentrate on ONE product only and get results with that.
Take this example from the Health & Fitness category, under each product there’s a ‘view pitch page’ link. You click on that to have a look at the site. As you scroll down you can read over what is on offer, see what you think of the copy –
- does it list – preferably with bullet points- the product’s features?
- how it will benefit the customer?
- does it talk about a need and show how it will solve their problem?
Some where near the bottom you should find the price, so you can compare what your customer is paying and (returning back to ClickBank) what you will be payed after each sale. Here, it’s $30.98 with ‘Fatloss4Idiots’, giving you 75% of their sales price. I would guess the full price is going to be around $42 (some extra amount is taken off by ClickBank too).
So if we take a look at the important green links under each product…
- $/sale = how much you make
- %/sale = what percentage of the list price you get
- %/refd = the portion of all sales that are Affiliate sales
- grav = is a measure of how popular this site is with other affiliates.
You have to make a judgement about whether the gravity is too high, in this case it’s over 500 which could mean it’s too competitive a site to start with as so many others are already selling it. Having said that, only experience can really be the judge of that – and you only gain experience through practice!
This where you need to choose your Niche carefully.
Next to the ‘view pitch page’ link is the ‘create hoplink’ link! You will need to click on this and, if you’ve not already signed up with them this is were they’ll prompt you to do that, fill in your personal nickname and details and they will create a piece of code you must copy and paste somewhere safe (a text editor of some kind) ready for pasting into your own site.
